Hi there! ๐Ÿ‘‹

My name is Felix Grund. I'm currently a software engineer ๐Ÿ—๏ธ๏ธ with Lively Apps where I work mostly on Atlassian apps (full-stack Java), performance testing ๐Ÿงช, and exciting cloud computing ๐ŸŒฉ๏ธ๏ธ tasks. Earlier, I worked as a developer and solution architect ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ผ at Scandio where I helped customers do all kinds of things with Atlassian products. As you can see, I have roamed in the Atlassian ecosystem for many years (๐Ÿ”Ÿ, to be precise). My recent focus is on cloud computing and I'm currently going through a series of AWS certifications ๐ŸŽ“.

I'm also an occasional lecturer at the University of British Columbia where I have taught ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ CPSC 210 Software Construction (a Java-based course on object-oriented software design) and CPSC 310 Introduction to Software Engineering (a TypeScript-based course on software engineering). I have taught these courses multiple times and I enjoy passing on the knowledge that I could gain throughout my engineering career to my students ๐Ÿ“ˆ.

I moved from Munich ๐Ÿฅจ to Vancouver ๐Ÿ because I wanted to explore some mountains โ›ฐ๏ธ other than the Alps on my bike ๐Ÿšต and skis ๐ŸŽฟ. As a side-effect, I now also have the ocean ๐ŸŒŠ next door and I sometimes go there and play my accordion ๐Ÿช—.

I hold a M.Sc. in Computer Science ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŽ“ from the University of British Columbia (2019), where I graduated with a thesis on intelligent Git history. This work made it to the International Conference of Software Engineering (ICSE) 2021 and received a distinguished paper award ๐Ÿ†. I also hold a B.Sc. in Information Systems ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŽ“ from the University of Bamberg (2012). I dedicated my bachelor thesis to an exciting part of the HTML5 specification: making web applications available offline . This is when my dedication to web technologies began ๐Ÿš€. (It is unfortunate that very few web applications nowadays have any offline capabilities.)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! ๐Ÿบ
